The appearance of the labia majora (the raised area around the opening to the intimate area) can change due to aging, post-pregnancy and weight loss..
In youth, it has volume and plumpness. Unfortunately, the aging process, hormonal changes following pregnancy and loss of fat with weight loss can cause it to change its appearance. These changes leave it looking flatter, wrinkly and unattractive
Fat transfer to the labia majora can restore its volume and improve its appearance
This is performed as a general anesthetic
It does not require an overnight stay
The first part of the procedure involves harvesting fat. This is typically taken from the flanks, however, it can be taken from any part of the body that has excessive fat accumulation. The scars involved in the liposuction are 15 mm in length and discretely placed. These are then closed with a dissolving suture and glue applied
The fat is then processed using special equipment so that the fat cells are separated from the blood cells.
Using a small syringe and cannulae the fat is then injected into the labia majora
When you awake following the surgery you will have very little pain
The volume of fat required for the fat transfer is very little, so the amount of liposuction will be minimal and hence little discomfort.
The labia Majora will initially look very swollen. This is a combination of the swelling, but also because it needs to be overcorrected initially. Up to 40 % of the fat can be lost due to the body reabsorbing it. Many factors can increase the amount of reabsorption, which is why care must be taken to keep the area protected in the first 4 weeks following the operation
You will be allowed to go home a few hours later. Pain killers and antibiotics will be given to you on discharge
You will be surprised how little impact the procedure has on your life
Most people are back at work within a couple of days
Dr. Faisal will review you after 1 week, 2 weeks and 6 weeks

Smoking can negatively impact wound healing. Please stop smoking 3 weeks before the operation.
Taking arnica tablets 1 week leading up to the operation can reduce the amount of bruising postoperatively
Blood-thinning medication such as Aspirin, Warfarin, and Plavix need to be stopped 1 week before the surgery
