The tear trough is the area just beneath the eye that separates the lower lid from the cheek. It is one of the first signs of aging. The hollowness that it creates results in complaints of patients looking tired and sad.
The cause of the problem could be originating from the cheek, so this needs to be established before treatment begins. If this is the case, then adding volume to the cheek pushes tissue into the tear trough and eliminates the deficit
Dr. Faisal will assess each case individually and create a treatment plan depending on the deficiency and the goals of each patient
The use of filler has offered a solution in the treatment of the tear trough
Hyaluronic acid filler offers a minimally invasive method to treat the tear troiugh
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar that exists within the body.
A synthetic form of hyaluronic acid has been used in cosmetic practice for many years. It is a very safe substance and is known to have a very low complication profile
When placed inside the body it absorbs water like a sponge, causing the volume to increase. The absorption of water hydrates the skin.
Dr. Faisal only uses the most reputable brands of Hyaluronic acid. His priority is to use products that have the highest safety standards combined with the best results and longest-lasting outcomes
His preferred partners are the Juvederm®️ range by Allergan®️, Restylane®️ by Galderma®️ and Teoxane®️
Different viscosities of filler allow for different applications. The tear trough requires softness, so a very thin viscosity filler is an ideal choice
he procedure will happen while you are awake
Local anaesthetic numbing cream will be applied 30 minutes prior to the procedure
Hyaluronic acid typically comes in 1 cc syringes and for this, you will need about 1 cc
A very fine cannula is used to perform the procedure
It is normally completed within 1o minutes
You are able to go home immediately after treatment
The filler is pliable for a couple of days after the procedure. The tear trough is a site where lumps can form. It is recommended that you gently massage the area for 5 minutes 5 times a day for the next couple of days whilst the filler is pliable
There may be mild discomfort at the injection sites. This is easily managed with paracetamol
It is common to experience swelling in the tear trough. The water absorption effect of the filler and thin skin in the area many exacerbate the effect. This typically settles after a couple of weeks. Massaging the area daily for this period is recommended
