General faq

Can I Get a Complete Body Lift at Once?

Yes it is possible

A body lift normally involves combining a tummy tuck with a lift of the buttocks. This is a long procedure and is complicated by the patient having to be turned during the operation

The main point of consideration prior to the operation are the individual having no other medical problems, a BMI< 28  and being a non-smoker

If these are satisfied and the patient follows Dr. Faisal's instructions postoperatively then the surgery will be a success

What If I Gain or Lose Weight After a Body Lift?

A body lift may involve liposuction of the abdomen, flanks and back in addition to skin excision

The result will be a tighter and aesthetic silhouette. It is right to assume that fat will be excised from the areas, and this will mean that there will be a more limited ability to accumulate fat in this area.

This does not mean, however, that a poor lifestyle will not lead to fat accumulation in the area. Indeed the remaining fat cells can get larger and will cause fat to reaccumulate at  an albeit slower rate

What s more likely to happen, is that the rest of your boy, i.e arm, thighs, neck, and upper back will put on weight at a normal rate, and the waist at a slower rate. This will lead to unusual fat distribution and make you  look strange

What Are The Risks Associated With a Body Lift?

As with any surgery, the risks can be broadly divided into two groups

General risks:

  • Anaesthetic issues
  • Infection
  • Haematoma

Specific to body lift

  • Wound separation
  • Widening of scars
  • Seroma- fluid collection

The actual rate of these is less than 1 %. The risk increases, if patients smoke and don't adhere to the post-operative instructions

What Are The Differences Between a Brazillian Butt Lift and Implants?

A Brazilian butt lift combines liposuction and fat transfer to enhance the shape and projection of the buttocks. The liposuction sculpts the lower back making it tapered and thin. The fat transfer adds the volume to the buttocks. The combination of the two helps to accentuate and maximise the result

You will lose about 40% of the volume of the fat, and it can be difficult to predict the final volume of the buttocks. However, the fat that remains after the first 3 months, will be retained for life

Buttock implants are an option for patients that do not have sufficient fat for a Brazilian butt lift. The implants are made of silicone and inserted through an incision in between the buttock creases.

The implants offer a predictable size increase. Unfortunately, the implants are not permanent and need to be replaced after 10-15 years. Buttock implants also have a reputation for problems relating to position and infections after the procedure

How Long Will It Take to Recover From a Brazillian Butt Lift?

Undertaking the Brazilian butt lift involves a significant commitment to the procedure and recovery

The procedure will take 4-5 hours and involved an overnight stay

It is the recovery, however, that most patients find more challenging. Trying to retain as much fat as possible is the key objective post-surgery. This involves avoiding any pressure on the fat.

Practically this creates a unique set of problems. Sleeping is done face down. Patients also have to purchase a special cushion that has a hole cut out of the middle, giving it the appearance of a doughnut. This distributes pressure under the thighs and the lower back, removing any pressure from the buttocks

This has to be done for 4 weeks

Face Procedures

My Face Doesn’t Look Right After the Procedure. What Gives?

After a significant operation on the face, most people tend to disassociate a little when they see their face in the mirror, which might result in feeling awkward and uncomfortable.

Don’t worry, however. It is a well-documented psychological effect that disappears after a short period of time.

Not to mention it takes a certain amount of time before the swelling stops and your face recovers fully, so you won’t be able to see the final results right away.

But, if you’re still unsure and worried about possible complications, you can always visit the doctor for a check-up.

Will The Scars From the Lift Operation be Visible?

Because most types of lifting involve incisions, they usually leave behind unintrusive scars. The scars are usually under the ears or in similar places where they aren’t noticeable. The chances of the operation leaving visible scars are very low, however.

How Long Will the Procedure Last?

The face is delicate and requires a lot of care. While it varies from person to person and from operation to operation, you should expect to be operated on for at least a couple hours. The anaesthesia will prevent you from feeling anything, however, so you shouldn’t worry.

Do I Need Someone to Accompany Me During the Procedure?

The doctor highly recommends the patient be accompanied by someone during and after the procedure - for at least a couple of days. This stage determines the results the patient sees, so it is important they get adequate care. If this isn’t possible for the patient, the doctor can suggest an aftercare facility where they can stay and recover in peace.

How Much Improvement Can I Expect to See?

It’s important to realize that a face procedure can’t reverse time. While you’ll definitely see a lot of improvement, and in some cases, look up to 10 to 15 years younger, the effects of ageing will still have left their mark. It’s important to have realistic expectations and after looking at your case, the doctor will tell you exactly what can you expect from it.

Breast Procedures

Are Breast Implants Safe?

Breast implants have come a long way since the first generation implants in the 70s.

Due to increased demand, more safety concerns, and medical advancements, today’s implants have nothing in common with the implants from the 70s and 90s. They are softer and feel more natural, and they don’t release any harmful chemicals into your body over time. It’s never been safer to get implants.

Will the Sensitivity and Feeling in My Breasts or Nipples Change?

The sensitivity of your nipples and breast will be different for the first 6 months after the procedure. Furthermore, 15% of women report a permanent change in the sensitivity of those areas (either increases or decreases in sensitivity).

Can I Still Breastfeed After an Implant?

It’s obvious that you won’t be able to breastfeed immediately. You should wait for at least 6 weeks before getting an implant.

In the longer term, some women have reported the inability to breastfeed even after years, so it is a real risk, and you should consider it carefully before making the final decision.

How Long Will Recovery Take?

Procedures involving breasts are complex and extensive. Depending on what you have to do in your job, you might not be able to resume work for up to 6 weeks.

  • You can start walking immediately - that won’t be an issue.
  • Upper arm movement should be avoided for a week or two.
  • Carrying anything heavier than 2 kilograms, exercising, or running should be avoided for at least 6 weeks.
Will Breast Procedures Cause an Increased Chance of Breast Cancer?

This is a persistent myth that makes rounds in the blogosphere without any substantial backing. There have been multiple studies on the effects of implants on breast cancer, and none has conclusively found a link between an increased chance of breast cancer and breast procedures.

Non-surgical Procedures

How Risky are Non-Surgical Procedures Compared to Surgical Operations?

Non-surgical procedures are less invasive and therefore theoretically have a smaller risk profile than surgical procedures.

Unfortunately, if the procedure is done incorrectly and a substance injected incorrectly then problems can occur

On very rare occasions, it can be a case of bad luck and a patient has a an unexpected reaction

Dr. Faisal performs over one thousand non-surgical procedures each year and is an expert injector. This mitigates the injection-related risks and minimises your risk of an adverse event

Are the Results of Non-Surgical Procedures Inferior to Surgical Ones?

With any surgical or non-surgical procedure it is vitally important to select your patients carefully and manage their expectations

Dr. Faisal will take greats lengths, to be honest in his assessment and to candidly explain limitations of procedures he thinks may not be suitable.

Non-surgical treatments are very effective and produce outstanding results in the right patients. The popularity of these treatments particularly botulinum toxin and fillers is testament to their effectiveness

Unfortunately, they do not do this for all patients and it is imperative that these patients are not treated and other options are given

How Long Will the Results of Non-Surgical Procedures Last?

This is entirely dependant on the procedure and on you.

A fat-dissolving injection will probably last for a long time if you also make changes in your diet and lifestyle. It won’t be less effective and the results will reverse in a year if you don’t make any changes.

Fillers can last from 9 to 18 months. This depends on where they are injected, what type of filler they are and the metabolism of the individual

Anti-Wrinkle Injections typically lasts for 4- 6 months

What’s The Recovery Time of Non-Surgical Procedures?

The recovery time for non-surgical treatments is far less than surgery

Fillers tend to have no recovery time. You will be told to mind the area where they have been injected for a couple of days, and there may be mild pain for that period

Anti-Wrinkle Injections involves avoiding any activities such as exercise, sauna, massage, and alcohol for 3 hours. This is to prevent the toxin from migrating. The effects start to appear at 3 days and are maximal by 2 weeks

Fat-dissolving injections tend to have a slightly longer recovery. Immediately after the procedure it is common to experience a mild burning type sensation. There may also be redness in the area. These resolve over the first day. There is mild swelling which persists for two weeks.

Can Non-Surgical Procedures Do Everything Surgical Procedures Do?

The answer is obviously no. While the advances in non-surgical procedures are numerous, there is always a limitation to what they can achieve

Dr. Faisal is in a privileged position of being able to offer all non-surgical and surgical treatments

Dr. Faisal will be able to guide you on what to expect and if another solution is necessary

Fat-dissolving

Will the Results be Permanent?

Fat-dissolving is a technique used to improve the appearance of double chins

The result of the procedure are permanent. It is important to have a healthy lifestyle, as any fat cells remaining can get larger

It is not uncommon to require more than one treatment depending on how much fat you have and how much response you have shown

How Does the Injection Work?

The injection usually contains a type of acid that slowly burns away the fat. The fat is deoxycholic acid but is known as Kybella®️, Belkyra®️ or aqualyx®️ depending where in the world you are

Is the Injection Safe?

Due to the acid being natural, it is completely safe to use it as an injection to dissolve fat. Furthermore, this being a non-surgical operation means there are no risks of scarring or infection.

There are no associated significant risks.

If anything is injected into the wrong place it can be dangerous, so it is imperative that you go to an experienced injector

Will I Have Saggy Skin After the Injection Dissolves the Fat?

Dr. Faisal will carefully examine your skin prior to the procedure

If it appears that the skin does not possess the ability to retract, then he will suggest an alternative treatment

One thing that makes this technique excellent is the mechanism through which it dissolves fat. The process dissolves fat over a week or two, this gives your skin time to slowly readjust while the fat is burning away.

How Long Until I See Results?

The acid will work continuously from a week to two weeks until the fat in the area gets burned. Meanwhile, while the acid works, the area will be relatively hot and inflamed. This is why it is important to be careful during the period the acid is doing its job and follow doctor Faisal’s instructions. This ensures you get the best results out of the treatment.

The process evolves over a period of a few months. many patients don't see a final effect until 3 months

Dr. Faisal will follow you up in clinic to monitor your progress

Anti-wrinkle Injections

How Do Anti-wrinkle Injections Work?

Anti-wrinkle injections works by targeting and relaxin the underlying muscles that cause forehead wrinkles, gummy smiles, platysmal bands, and a myriad of other issues. Most of those issues happen because of overactive muscles in those areas, and Botox directly targets and relaxes the muscles.

Wrinkles are caused by muscle contraction

Anti-wrinkle injections are a protein that neuromodulates. It blocks the signals that go from nerves to muscles. By blocking the signal that causes muscle contraction, it leads to muscle relaxation.

When Will I See Results from Anti-Wrinkle Injections?

The results for Anti-Wrinkle Injections are not seen immediately

They start occurring after 3 days and reach a maximal effect at 2 weeks

Dr. Faisal will review you at this stage and add Anti-Wrinkle Injections if necessary

The results will last between 4-6 months

How Long Will the Procedure and Recovery Take?

This is why Anti-Wrinkle Injections are so popular - it takes almost no time at all.

The procedure usually consists of a simple injection, which takes approximately 10 minutes.

The recovery is almost immediate - you’ll be able to go back to work the same day.

Following the injection, Dr. Faisal advises you do not exercise, use a sauna, have a massage or consume alcohol for 3- 4 hours after the procedure

Will My Face Look Asymmetrical and Unnatural After Botox?

Doctor Faisal performs over 1000 Anti-Wrinkle Injections procedures each year. He specialises in producing natural results.

Dr. Faisal always conducts a careful examination of your anatomy prior to the injection. This will allow him to appreciate your anatomy and tailor an injection plan specific for you

He will also establish if you have had treatment before and if there were any issues related to it.

It is highly unlikely that you will end up with asymmetry, but in the rare instance that you do, you will be asked to return at 2 weeks for an assessment and 'top-up' if necessary

Do Anti-Wrinkle Injections Have Any Side Effects?

Anti-Wrinkle Injections have a very good safety profile

Although rare, there is a chance some patients will experience localized pain, inflammation, swelling, etc.

As with any injections, the likelihood of an adverse reaction increases if the injector is inexperienced and injects the wrong area

If this happens in the forehead, it may cause a droopy eyelid

If this happens around the masseter, then the smile may weaken

Dr Faisal is pleased to say that in his experience the incidence of this is < 1%

Dermal Fillers

Where Can Dermal Fillers be Used?

Medical advances have made it feasible to use fillers in various areas around the body:

  • Fillers used in the face continue to be very common. The main areas where the filler is used include the forehead, around the eyes, cheeks, lips, and even the nose.
  • The wrinkles in the neck is another area where filler shines.
  • Filler can be used, to great effect, to rejuvenate the extremities, especially veiny hands and feet.
Will I See Results Immediately?

Yes, the results are almost immediately visible after the procedure. However, due to the chances of swelling and inflammation in the area during the recovery process, you’ll see continued improvement between 2 to 4 weeks.

How Long Will the Filler Last?

This largely depends on the type of filler used, as well as the procedure. For a few select ones, you can use a permanent filler that will last for up to 10 years. But the most usual types of filler used last anywhere between eight to eighteen months.

Are the Fillers Safe?

The fillers we use have undergone years of extensive testing on both mice and people, and they’re proven to not have any long-lasting negative effects on your health. Especially considering how most fillers consist of chemicals naturally occurring in the body, you don’t have to worry about the safety of the procedure.

Any Aftercare Instructions to Fast-Track the Recovery?

The time it takes to recover from the operation is relatively short. You’ll see a little redness for about 2 weeks, and you should be completely fine after that. However, it is important to take some caution during those two weeks to ensure you get the best results:

  • Avoid extreme heat and extreme cold and, if possible, direct sunlight too.
  • Avoid alcohol and smoking during the same period, and if a drug isn’t vital, you’re better off not taking it.
  • Make sure you follow the doctor’s instructions to the letter, as he knows what your body needs to quickly recover.

Liposuction FAQ

What Does Liposuction Involve Exactly?

Liposuction usually starts with an Incision (usually 15 millimeters long) along the area you want to extract the fat from. A cannula is inserted into the incision that’s connected to a suction machine. The machine will then slowly pull out the fat from your body. The process is fast and safe, and it doesn’t leave any noticeable scars behind.

Depending on how much fat is removed will determine how much time it takes

An overnight hospital stay is not normally required. The only exception to this would be an unusually large volume of fat removal

Which Areas are Ideal for Liposuction Operations?

Some common areas that are ideal for liposuction include:

Abdomen: Liposuction can remove excess fat in the abdominal area, including the upper and lower abdomen, as well as the flanks (love handles).

Thighs: Liposuction can remove excess fat in the inner thighs, outer thighs, and the area above the knees.

Hips and buttocks: Liposuction can remove excess fat in the hips and buttocks, helping to create a more contoured and defined shape.

Arms: Liposuction can remove excess fat in the upper arms, helping to create a more toned and defined appearance.

Back: Liposuction can remove excess fat in the upper and lower back, including the bra line area.

Neck and chin: Liposuction can remove excess fat in the neck and chin area, helping to create a more defined jawline and reducing the appearance of a double chin.

It's important to note that not all individuals are good candidates for liposuction, and the ideal areas for the procedure may vary depending on the individual's specific needs and goals. Most areas of the body are suitable for liposuction operations.  A careful examination will be made and Dr. Faisal will assess your suitability for the procedure

When Can I Start Freely Moving and Exercising Again?

You’ll be able to walk and move on the day of your operation - Your surgeon will provide you with specific instructions for post-operative care and activity restrictions.

Here are some general guidelines for returning to exercise after liposuction:

  1. Light activities: You may be able to resume light activities, within a few days of the procedure. However, it's important to avoid any activities that could put a strain on the treated areas or increase your heart rate or blood pressure.

  2. Strenuous activities: You should avoid any strenuous activities or exercises, such as running or weightlifting, for at least two to four weeks after the procedure. Your surgeon will advise you on when it is safe to resume these activities.

  3. Gradual return to exercise: When it is safe to resume exercise, it's important to start slowly and gradually increase intensity and duration over time. This can help minimize the risk of injury and promote proper healing.

  4. Listen to your body: It's important to listen to your body and avoid any activities or exercises that cause pain or discomfort. If you experience any unusual symptoms or concerns, contact your surgeon right away.

Overall, it's important to follow your surgeon's instructions for post-operative care and activity restrictions to ensure proper healing and achieve the best possible results from your liposuction procedure.

What Factors Go Into Determining the Costs of Liposuction?

The factors that go into determining the cost of liposuction are complex, and the doctor can’t give you a price before seeing you in person and assessing your situation:

  • The degree of difficulty and complexity involved in removing fat from that particular area.
  • The amount of fat that needs to be removed.
  • The number of areas that need to be treated.

All of these factors will determine the time that it takes to perform the procedure, and this is ultimately the factor deciding the price

What Can I Expect From My Liposuction?

Liposuction is a surgical procedure that removes excess fat from specific areas of the body. The procedure can help to contour and reshape the body, creating a more toned and defined appearance. Liposuction performed on the right patient for the right volume of fat in the right area can produce outstanding results

Liposuction performed on the wrong patient, with the wrong volume of fat in the wrong area can produce less than desirable results

The consultation with Dr. Faisal is critical in determining your suitability and to outline the correct expectations from the surgery.  It's important to note that liposuction is not a weight loss solution, but rather a procedure to remove stubborn areas of fat that are resistant to diet and exercise. The ideal candidates for liposuction are individuals who are at or near their ideal body weight and have good skin elasticity.
